Extremely helpful and friendly owner Maurizio who is on hand whenever needed yet manages to keep a discreet distance at the same time. The apartment is small but fitted with everything you could possibly want - the kitchen is open plan and contains every item needed to cook a meal should you wish. There are shops, restaurants and a fresh water fountain on the doorstep (no need to buy bottled water here) and bikes to use at no extra cost. We had a lovely week long stay here and will definitely be back.

On arrival in Lucca I called the owner who arrived at the property within minutes. He was very keen to help with luggage and show the features of the appartment. He also helped us over the course of our stay with restaurant recommendations and taxi ordering. Get the feeling that he would have done anything to have been of service (He even came over to the appartment during the day when I couldn't find the iron - even though I am sure it was my fault I didn't look properly). The appartment Itself is clean, well equipped and well located. There is air conditioning only upstairs, but understand owner is looking to install another unit downstairs over this coming winter.

      The location of this property and its superbly helpful friendly owners was fantastic. Fully equipped to a high standard, very clean and comfortable.

The owner Maurizio was so welcoming and friendly and was always available to ensure our stay went well. The apartment was lovely And clean with all the facilitates we could want.although we chose to eat out most nights on our stay The kitchen had everything you needed to make a great meal should you wish to purchase fresh goods from the local bakery's and shops

·         Wonderful location to base yourself to explore the beautiful town of Lucca. Cycles are provided. A kind and generous host.

·         We loved everything about this apartment. It had everything we needed for our family and we loved the hosts! The hosts were so friendly and kept in touch with us to make sure we were happy

·         Modern, clean & roomy. Appreciated bikes for riding around the city. A two level apartment with bedroom on a loft level. Little extras for us like coffee & tea, olive oil & salt & pepper. Would recommend & stay there again.
·         There are 52 steps from street level to front door. Was OK with us but many would not like. The aircon was only in the bedroom area & did not cool downstairs where kitchen & living is situated. We suggest a fan for this level for the very hot days. Also for 4 nights there was only 1 roll of toilet paper so we had to purchase more.

·         Everything, the warm hospitality, the location inside the historical center of the city, the comfort and cleaness. Maurizio (the owner) is a very nice person and help us in everything we need. We will book this place again whenever we go to Lucca.

·         Firstly we would like to thank Maurizio the owner for being so kind and helpful during our stay. The apartment was perfect. The decor and fixtures and fittings were to a very high standard. It was exceptionally clean and very modern, within an old building as is typical within the walls of lucca. It was on the top floor with a lot of stairs. I went with my daughter, and as long as you are mobile it does not cause any problems at all. It has everything you need for a self catering stay, although I think all we used was the fridge, corkscrew and iron. There is also a hair dyer in the bathroom.. Once you know your way around, you will find the train station is a 5 minute walk, directly through the walls of the town. We travelled from Pisa by train to Lucca which is about 25 minutes and cost 3.4 euros each. Don't forget to verify your ticket BEFORE you get on the trains. It's a little green machine inside the stations. If you want to travel to Florence it is an hour and twenty minutes from Zlucca and cost about 7 euros. Well worth a day trip. Lucca is a lively place, although it is only small. I would love to visit again one day. Thanks again Maurizio . You were brilliant

·         My husband still raving about the fancy lounge chair

·         Maurizio had offered to pick us up from the station which was appreciated. We only just managed to fit our bags in his car. He also helped us carry the suitcases up three flights of steep steps. The apartment was well appointed and light and airy. The main living area was a large open plan lounge/dining room with a comfy sofa and a fancy type of layback lounge chair as well as a dining table and chairs and large TV. The kitchen had a full size fridge, gas stovetop and oven, microwave, dishwasher and combined washer and dryer and an extensive range of pots, pans, crockery, cutlery and utensils. The bathroom was smallish with a rain shower, basin, toilet and bidet. The bedroom was up an extra flight of stairs in the roof cavity. We had a skylight overhead but thankfully it had a curtain to block out the early morning light. The heating and the washing machine was easy to understand. If we ignore the three flights of steep stairs, this was the best apartment we stayed in during our six weeks in Europe.
 

·         Everything, the welcome from Maurizio and his kind hospitality were second to none. I would have no problem recommending this apartment or staying here again, wonderful.

·         It felt like coming home. Great place to relax and enjoy all that Lucca has to offer. The bikes were a wonderful way to explore.

·         Die modern eingerichtete Wohnung liegt innerhalb der alten Stadtmauer. Von dort lässt sich Lucca sehr bequem zu Fuss oder mit dem Fahrrad besichtigen. Der Vermieter ist sehr sympathisch und hilfsbereit.

·         The appartment is perfectly situated inside the walls of the old town. Thanks to Maurizio we had a great Christmas lunch. He adviced and reserved for us. Nice big appartment for 4. We were 5, the fifth bed wasn't comfy, luckly my 12 year old girl is not too tall.
·         Bit difficult to pick up / drop off the keys at owner's house from the parking with luggage to the appartment (or vice-versa). If you're too charged, don't hesitate to tell him, I'm sure he'll be glad to help out.

·         The location and the facilities of the flat were absolutely outstanding. But, what really makes the difference is the warmth and the welcoming nature of the owner Maurizio. This has our highest recommendation and we are considering going back again soon.

Il proprietario è gentile e la casa, ristrutturata recentemente, è molto piacevole ed accogliente. Si trova in una buonissima posizione per visitare tutto il centro storico ed è costituita da un ampio soggiorno/cucina (con divano letto), un bagno ed una camera da letto alla quale si accede con una scala.

L'appartamento è situato al terzo piano, non c'è ascensore e la scala è piuttosto ripida; la cosa normalmente non crea fastidio ma forse questa informazione può risultare utile a un visitatore con dei problemi o avanti con gli anni.

- Unica nota dolente il prezzo molto alto durante il periodo di Lucca Comics, tutti i locatori alzano i prezzi in quei giorni ma la cosa è comunque pesante.

Weekend in Lucca

We stayed in this lovely apartment for long weekend in July. Maurizio was a great host, very quick to respond to our initial booking enquiries. He met us at the station, drove us to the flat, and picked us up and drove us back to the bus station at the end of our stay which was very helpful. He gave us lots of good advice about the flat, the free bikes, places to visit and eat, and about the Lucca water fountains. He was a charming host and we were able to contact him during our stay when we had a query and he immediately responded. The flat is on the third floor of a beautiful 16th century building with lovely rooftop views, centrally located, light and airy, modern and stylish and comfortable, with everything you could need - including tea, coffee and a cold bottle of prosecco and beer! And a Le Corbusier lounger! Lucca is a beautiful unspoiled city, small enough to walk everywhere, with lovely restaurants, bars, cafés, churches, walks and gardens. We recommend cycling or walking around the city walls, climbing the Tower Guinigi for its tower top olive trees and a wonderful view of the city, visiting the Lucca Centre of Contemporary Art (at the top of the road), getting your drinking water from the water fountains, and for late night atmosphere the Amphitheatre restaurants and shops. We would love to return to Lucca and would definitely stay in Maurizios apartment again. Thank you Maurizio for your generous hospitality, we look forward to returning.
 

• The apartment was spacious, stylish, modern (although the building is very old) clean, well presented and laid out. The views over the roof tops were lovely and the apartment's location being in the north east part of the town was great - handy for shops and restaurants. We stayed for 2 nights as part of a tour around Tuscany and we opted to eat in after having come from a half board hotel stay elsewhere. We shopped for fresh hand made pasta, bread, fruit, vegetables, pesto and ragu in the local shops and serving it on the hand painted tuscan pottery plates was an added pleasure. Maurizio was very welcoming and keen to explain everything to us including where to get drinking water from the fountain just around the corner behind the monument to Madonna of the stars. As other reviews have said the three flights of stairs may not suit everyone but we managed and we are a 'mature couple' albeit reasonably fit.

• We loved this apartment, it was very clean and very stylish. We felt at home, seating and beds were very comfortable. Kitchen was fully equipped, the shower was amazing. Owners were friendly and helpful. The use of the bikes was great for cycling round Lucca city walls which is a must do if you visit the city. It is up 3 steep flights of stairs so may not be suitable for everybody but it was perfect for us and we would definitely go back. 10 out of 10.

Molto ben arredato, recentemente ristrutturato, assolutamente funzionale. Stoviglie, biancheria, elettrodomestici, accessori d'arredamento esprimono buongusto e ricercatezza. Comodissima anche la disponibilità delle due biciclette! Il proprietario, Sig. Maurizio, dopo averci piacevolmente accolti con uno spuntino di prodotti locali, ci ha gentilmente dato tutte le informazioni delle quali avevamo bisogno e si è reso disponibile per eventuali necessità o problemi. Tutto assolutamente positivo.

We had such a nice stay in the Campos' beautiful flat in Lucca! Maurizio and Laura showed such incredible hospitality and made us feel so welcome- down to providing some food in the fridge to help feed our travel-weary family upon our arrival. We found the flat very cozy and well-appointed with nice amenities in the kitchen, bath and living room, and very comfortable beds - even the pullout couch for the kids. The location is ideal for access to walking the ramparts, or if you just want to wander the streets and alleys of this storied, old town full of character. Maurizio walked us around and helped us get our bearings, find a good grocery store, and he even left us his bikes which is a fun way to get around town or just see the sights. Also, there are cafés and shops very close and a GREAT gelateria right around the corner that we discovered and frequented often. The Campos treated us so kindly and were so generous to our family - I cannot imagine it being any better!



 
 

Really nice location

My wife and my first stay in Tuscany for a week. Owner Maurizio was extremely helpful and keen to make our stay enjoyable, in which he succeeded without being intrusive. He was always available to contact and also provided us freely with some little initial food supplies, wine, two (good) bicycles and generally good advice. The apartment (one big room incl. kitchen and an upper bedroom)was very centrally situated in old Lucca on the 3rd floor in a 16th century building. Newly restored, bright and modernly equipped with all necessary facilities. The bedroom was upstairs in the attic and both cosy, with a good double bed and lots of closet space. ALL the walls, ceilings, windows and floors was painted / kept in pleasantly bright creamy white / grey colours - very tasteful! Heating / cooling worked perfectly - as did the wifi and most of the other electrical equipment. Small but nice bathroom with very large shower head, soaps, good lighting and moisture extraction. Small good shops, bars, restaurants and even museums in the immediate vicinity. In general, old Lucca is a really nice and still genuine town to visit and of course a bit more relaxed than bigger towns as Florens, Rome, Milan etc. Especially the great wall surrounding the city with it's many trees, lawns, playgrounds, view points where people walk, jog, cycle, stroll makes Lucca a very special and remarkable place compared to other towns. If we return to Tuscany, we will definitely not hesitate to choose Maurizio's apartment for our stay again. Both for his and it's aforementioned qualities, but also since Lucca is a great central starting point for excursions throughout northern Tuscany.
